Let your children tell you why they are excited about the start of school!

Mosaic Apples –Apple Mosaics

Print the .pdf file above for each of your children.  Have the children tear or cut small pieces of red construction paper and glue to the apple.  The children can also cut or tear small green pieces of construction paper to glue on for the stems.  Ask your children why they are excited to be back in school?  Have the children copy, stamp, or write their answers on the blank line.  For very young children, write the words for them and see if they can trace over the letters.

Apples for Math
How many dots? 5!

Apple Math or Literacy – Apple_Template0001

Print the apple and leaves template above.  The apples and leaves can be used for literacy or math activities in many ways; here are just a FEW ideas:

~Make dots on the apple and ask the children to find the matching numbered leaf to glue on.

~Use the apple and write basic addition or subtraction problems.  Put the answer on the leaf and have the children glue to the apple.

~Use the apple/leaves to match the uppercase to its lowercase letter.  Use the apples for sight words or compound words.

Math APPLE/WORM Free Printable –  Apple_Worm_Math Free Printable

Print the file linked above and have your children count the number of apples/worms and write the number in the box to the right.  Set out small counters for children to use to help complete the work page.  The last two pages of the file increase in difficulty and older children may find the counters helpful, too.
