The newly updated Zapzapmath K6 App invites kids to use intuitive math skills to solve a variety of math puzzles and challenges in an outer space-themed digital environment. Kids create their own avatar, called a Mathling, to keep them engaged in the app through their own chosen character. The app has a user friendly interface that most kids (even K kids) can figure out on their own. Some of our younger K students needed initial direction, but after a few attempts they were able use the app independently. The games within the app each have 5 different levels which increase in difficulty as the kids master previous levels. The parent/teacher dashboard is invaluable as it provides insights into what games have been played, times, and accuracy for each child/student playing. While we have many math apps we use throughout the year, our kids LOVE the outer-space theme and they have mastered math concepts while having FUN playing.
