Family-Friendly Bloggers! Invitation to participate: Fall QR Code Quest for Kids!

Thanks for sharing!

We will be hosting a game for young children from Oct. 15, 2012 to Oct. 29, 2012. We would like to extend an invitation to family-friendly bloggers (please, only blogs/websites that are G-rated for ALL content) who might wish to participate!

The game will be a Fall QR Code Quest for technology explorations via the different participating websites/blogs.   It will be a FUN way to get all of our children involved with technology and give them a chance to be entered to win a $50.00 Target Gift Card.  We’d love to have a variety of websites/blogs participating!

What’s in it for YOU?   The classrooms and children participating will drive traffic to YOUR site, but it is mainly just a way to get young children involved in using technology to have some FUN this Fall!  We’ll put in time to help you with the posts and donate the 50.00 gift card, if the children can use YOUR blog for another site to visit besides our own!

The Game:  It’s a Fall Riddle and Answer Game.  The riddles will be in text and the answers to those riddles will be embedded in a QR Code to different picture posts on the participating blogs/websites.

Example RIDDLE:    It is orange and round; it grows on a FARM.

Some have a scary face; but it will do you no harm!

Each blogger will be asked to make a QR code (or we can do it for you) to a new post (on YOUR blog) that will contain the ANSWER to a riddle with a simple clip art picture.  As the children scan the QR codes, it will direct them to your post that contains the picture to answer the riddle and perhaps, but not required, a printable prize for each child:   a coloring page, a printable badge, a printable recipe to make at home, etc.

Here is an archived post of ours (made into a QR CODE that contains the answer to the riddle above!)  Go ahead…scan it!

The game is quite easy as an adult/teacher will simply read each submitted riddle to the children, ask if the children KNOW the answers, and then use technology to scan the QR Codes to arrive at each participating blog to find out if they guessed correctly!  We will make a complete file of all the riddles and QR Codes for each participating blog.   As the children progress through the list of riddles, they will visit all sites (via the QR Codes) and learn to apply the technology necessary to scan the codes.   The children can have an adult leave a comment so that they can be entered into a drawing for a $50.00 Target Gift Card (to be given away on Halloween night).

We will write the introduction/directions for the adults/teachers for you.  All you would need to do is make 2 posts:  One post would include a clip art picture to answer a riddle (that picture post would need to be completed/published to get a URL for the QR CODE NO LATER than October 11, 2012.) The second post would include instructions for the teachers/adults (again, we’ll write the post for you, if desired) that would go live on October 15, 2012.

Please contact us if you’d like to participate or have further questions!
