Got Kids?  Have a Mobile Device? – Come Learn and Play with Us!

The objective of this game is to familiarize young kids with using a mobile device to scan QR Codes and arrive at an online destination.

There is a QR scanner app by QR CODE CITY available for free download at:  http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/scan/id411206394?mt=8

For Android users, there is an app available by DROIDLA to download at:   https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=la.droid.qr&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDEsImxhLmRyb2lkLnFyIl0.

**Note:  The QR codes will scan from the computer screen (open the QR Code document link below) if a printer is not available.

QR CODES and RIDDLES – QR CODES_MAIN FILE

For those who would like to play without a mobile device:  the answer posts for the riddles in the file above are located at each of the following websites:

PUMPKIN

WITCH

SCARECROW

GHOST

BAT

CORN

How to play:

Print the Riddles and QR Codes file (linked above) for each of your children.  Read each riddle, one at a time, to the children.  Ask if the children know the answer to the riddle or brainstorm possible answers.  To see if the answer to the riddle is correct, have the children use the QR Code scanner app (free download link above) to scan the QR CODE (right side of the Riddles and QR Codes file).  As the children arrive at each website page, there will be a picture of the riddle’s answer and a “prize” the children can print!

EXTENSION GAME FOR READERS:  Print the QR Codes Main File (linked above).  Have the children cut the cards apart (make sure the children do not cut any part of the QR Code or it will not scan correctly.)  The Riddle Cards and QR Code Cards should be placed into two separate piles.  The children must read one of the text cards and then scan all the QR CODE CARDS until the appropriate answer for the riddle card is located.  Play continues until  all riddle cards have been matched with the corresponding QR Code Card.

We hope you and your children enjoy the opportunity to use QR Code technology in a FUN way!

Our MANY THANKS to Early Childhood News, The Preschool Toolbox Blog, Kathy’s Cluttered Mind, Wikki Stix, and Learning Pavillon for their assistance with the QR Quest!
